Jeff Anderson on Nassau County Supreme Court’s Denial of Diocese’s Attempt to Dismiss 44 Lawsuits

“I am Jeff Anderson and I am the founder of Jeff Anderson & Associates. Today we, on behalf of the survivors we represent in New York – particularly [those with claims] against the Diocese of Rockville Centre) – achieved a major victory. A major triumph. And in this decision issued by the court today, the court has now ruled that the survivors we represent, and the survivors who brought cases against the Diocese of Rockville Centre and the related entities, can go forward.

The court also found that the statute that allows us and the survivors to go forward – and to march for the truth and justice – is constitutional, that means it got upheld. [The Diocese of Rockville Centre] tried to get the cases thrown out of court. The cases are not thrown out of court. We, our law firm, armed with the courage of the survivors we represent against the Diocese of Rockville Centre, have triumphed. This was a battle, a legal battle that has been hard-fought and [the Diocese of Rockville Centre] chose to fight it, and tried to get the survivors’ cases thrown out.

The cases can go forward.

We are grateful to the survivors that gave us a chance to fight this battle, and we are marching together towards a reckoning. The time is now.”
