As enrollment grew, the archdiocese expanded Quigley’s reach in 1961 by opening a second campus on Chicago’s South Side. The original downtown location became known as Quigley Preparatory Seminary North, while the new campus became Quigley Preparatory Seminary South. The two schools operated independently for decades, educating thousands of students before changing enrollment patterns and declining priestly vocations led to a restructuring of seminary education.
In 1990, Quigley Seminary South closed, and the downtown campus returned to the name Quigley Preparatory Seminary. The school continued operating until 2007, when the archdiocese closed Quigley as part of broader changes in Catholic education and priestly formation.
