Diocese of Monterey

In January 2004, the Diocese of Monterey announced that in July 2003, the Diocese submitted information to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice on 17 clerics accused of sexual misconduct with a minor. A total of approximately 355 clerics worked in the Diocese from 1967 to June 2002.

As part of the 2003 letter, a partial list of priests accused of sexual abuse in the Diocese of Monterey was released, but it is no longer on the Diocese’s website. A press release dated July 28, 2009, is posted to the Diocesan website in response to articles published by The Monterey Herald.
